"Laughing Gas" (Nitrous Oxide) Can Help Reduce Patient Anxieties at the Dentist
Are you nervous about going to the dentist? You don’t need to be nervous about coming to our practice. We offer dental sedation to relax our patients.
Nitrous Oxide “Laughing Gas” May be an option for you!
Also known as laughing gas, Nitrous Oxide is beneficial in calming a patient’s anxiety before a procedure. It is used primarily for its anesthetic and analgesic properties. It is a safe and effective gas that is inhaled by the patient. It is the most commonly used sedation technique in dentistry. The gas is not intended to put you to sleep, and you will be able to hear and respond to any requests or directions the we may have. We will ask you to breathe normally through your nose, and within a few short minutes you should start to feel the effects of the nitrous oxide. You may feel light-headed or a tingling in your arms and legs. Some people say their arms and legs feel heavy. Ultimately, you should feel calm and comfortable. The effects of nitrous oxide wear off soon after the mask is removed.
